Center of

Excellence

As part of our ongoing commitment to thought leadership, we
developed the Center of Excellence, an educational series
designed to equip CFOs with best practices for financial
leadership at an emerging growth company. It’s our way of
committing to leadership development and community
building: we build strong leaders to build strong companies.

EDUCATIONAL SERIES
Showing up as a Leader

Product/market fit, visionary leaders, and strong financial backing do not guarantee success.  As a company scales and with financial markets accelerating the path to a public listing through SPACs, financial leaders are facing a need to fast-track the maturity of their processes, technology, and people.  These rapidly changing environments can create tension requiring a new level of leadership.

The theme for our upcoming series is Leadership and we are engaging the Trium Group to coach our CFOs to reduce friction and improve execution in rapidly scaling companies, by clarifying strategy, building trust, and enabling the company's culture to adapt. With an emphasis on achieving the right mindset, each session will introduce a framework and concept, include discussion and exercises, and provide tangible takeaways.

Featuring
Doug Randall
Partner at The Trium Group

These sessions will be led by Doug Randall of the Trium Group.  Doug is a CEO strategist, executive coach, and advisor. He works with CEO's and their executive teams to achieve peak performance. He specializes in identifying strategic, interpersonal, and team blind spots and designing quick solutions to improve performance. He is a recognized expert in strategy mindset, scenario planning, narrative analytics, and managing under uncertainty.

Agenda
Power of Mindset
  • Much of the time, developing the capacity to scale effectively is about mindset, not skillset
  • How does your mindset dictate the choices you make and the actions you take?
  • Discover how your mindset may be limited
Resilient Leadership
  • How do we manage uncertainty and ambiguity?
  • Everyone loves a plan and we think everything will work since we have a plan, but it's not that simple
  • We’ll learn ways to manage multiple scenarios in a systematic way while taking into consideration the strategic context
Polarities of Strategic Tensions
  • We will start a conversation to understand the meaning of each of the polarities in a decision
  • When we focus on global we downplay local when the answer is optimizing the tension between the two
  • Thinking through the range between polarities introduces ways of creating more choice and opportunity in decision making

Critical Communications Strategies

Effective emerging growth CFOS guide their companies into the future.

Given the rapid pace of change within emerging growth companies, strong financial leadership is needed to guide founders and management through various stages of a company’s development.  Through business model development, metric reporting, and capital management strategies, a CFO guides financial decision-making and structures that fund business growth. In this role, CFOs need to master the skill of communicating technical details and strategic realities through stories that make sense to all members of their management team. By understanding your communication style and working on the techniques presented in this workshop, you will improve your ability to effectively communicate in your company’s decision-making process.
